Station Owner
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF CATTLE COUNTRY RADIO, KDDL 94.3/100.5 FM
Howdy, Neighbor! It’s been over ten years since we took ownership of what has become Northern Arizona’s Classic Country station. Many of you probably wonder how much a guy from Detroit actually knows about Country Music.
Well, it may come as a surprise, but I was a BIG country music fan growing up. Part of that was just to be different from my friends, however I always loved the great artists who sang about real feelings.
Like many of you, I enjoyed the crossover hits from the early days of Rock ‘n’ Roll like Conway Twitty’s Mona Lisa, Johnny Cash’s Ring of Fire, Marty Robbins El Paso, Sonny James Young Love, everything Carl Perkins ever did, but the one that really turned me on to Classic Country was Faron Young. I wore out my copy of Hello Walls and to this day when that song comes on the radio, I stop what I’m doing to enjoy my memories.
Let’s not forget the women of Classic Country music! Tammy Wynette’s Stand By Your Man, Lynn Anderson’s Rose Garden, written by one of my personal favorites, Joe South, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline all were able to strike a great forceful note with memorable tunes.
What I like most about KDDL are some of the forgotten artists of the 60’s. The Kendall’s song is Heaven’s Just a Sin Away, CW McCall Convoy, anything by Eddie Rabbit, we cover all of these and much much more everyday on KDDL.
As luck would have it, we happen to be located in the Home of the World’s Oldest Rodeo, Prescott, Arizona! How fortunate is that?
So thank you for listening and don’t worry! We love Hank Sr. and Jr. and will always be keeping their memories alive for the next generations of Classic Country music fans to come.
